FAN Proton AL Multiwelder

General Remarks

Simplicity itself to operate, and a huge range of uses:

With its new PROTON AL Multiwelder, FAN presents – today – the up-and-coming generation of machines for the autobody workshop of tomorrow. No matter whether you’re welding aluminium, stell or galvanised sheet – you’ll find no easier and more efficient way to do it than with the PROTON AL.

Welding properties

Great features – for great welding.

A universal “all-rounder” of a welding machine, the PROTON AL bosasts some truly winning features. To start with, the multifunctional welding torch has a dual-purpose inner liner enabling it to be used with both aluminium and steel wires. This practical innovation sabes both timme and money, as now there’s no need to fiddle around changing the torch. No matter which process you use, the welding properties are superb, especially with light-gauge sheets. To ensure that you always have the optimum arc when welding, there are two inductor connections, covering different dynamic ranges.

Thanks to it’s large wheels and surdy design, you can take the PROTON AL just about anywhere. It also has a detachable side panel to protect the drive system from abrasive dust. Yet another “plus” in terms of both safety and quality.

Handling

Exceptionally easy to handle.

Professional welding can be really easy: With the PROTON AL’s colour-coded guidance system, anybody can be welding like an expert in next to no time! On the intuitively laid out display, you can see “what’s what” straight away. Simply choose your colour and you’ll always have the right settings, whether for aluminium or steel.

It goes without saying that the PROTON AL features constant, dependable wire feed and continuously adjustable spotwelding and intermittent welding times. Not to mention the central torch-connector, which makes for exact linkage between current and gas.

And even extremely soft aluminium wires (AlSi12) can be welded without difficulty using the PROTON AL. All you need here is a Push-Pull torch.

Safety

Safety written large

Needless to say, every FAN machine meets all safety standards and has to pass stringent and exhaustive testing.

It’s understood that ever FAN machine is marked with the and based on EN 60 974/1 and EN 50 199.

FAN Proton AL Puls+ 2500

Intelligent and future-oriented

The PROTON AL Puls+ 2500 is especially user-friendly and simple to operate. The reproduction of welds according to factory specifications is secured due to the fact that welding parameters can be stored and called up for the individual programm positions. The 4-roll drive ensures optimum wire feeding with all materials.

+ the futured-oriented concept of the PROTON AL PULS+ 2500 is systematically supported by means of software updates.

Design and technology

The carefully thought-out and innovative design of the PROTON AL PULS+ 2500, unites maximum technological requirements, robust design and total hondling simplicity. As an efficient and reliable power source, the PROTON AL PULS+ 2500 is characterised by highly advanced IGBT inverter technology and offers the additional advantages of minimum power requirements and low grid impact.

The stable metal housing with impact-resistant plastic is especially durable, while the angled front plate guarantees that the parameters can be read from all sides. The trolley with the low-slung gas bottle holder ensures safe and stable standing, optimum manoeuvrability being provided by the guide wheels. The redesigned and tested tunnel ventilator cooling system furnishes effective protection of the components against dust.

Pulse welding

The pulse welding process is based on the rapid interchange between a very low basic current and a high impulse current. This interchange is optimised in such a manner that it results in an absolutely uniform pulse frequency without any undesirable current peaks. During the impulse phase, precisely one drop is created, the constant pulse frequency providing extremely uniform welds and very low splash levels. Problem-free fusion adjustment is a further advantage, the only settings requiring alteration being the pulse frequency and wire feeding.

Double pulse function

During the double pulse function, a second variable frequency is superimposed on the pulse peak. In addition to thereduced thermal load, the appearance of the weld resembles that of a TIG weld. These outstanding characteristics have led to the use of this process for both stainless steel and aluminium.

MIG / MAG + TIG

SHORT PULSE has revolutionised the traditional pulse process,as it allows the torch to be brought into very close proximity with the workpiece. Consequently, it is possible to create an arc at a very low welding voltage and this shorter and more stable arc is far more precise. The arc wave control used in the SHORT PULSE process also facilitates greater speed in combination with optimised wire melting performance. The result is splash-free welding and a decisive reduction in thermal draft.

WSC “Wire Start Control” is a new arc ignition system, which stops the wire from sticking to the workpiece or the torch nozzle and guarantees safe and gentle ignition, particularly in the case of aluminium.

TIG

LIFT contact ignition provides a rapid and precise ignition process that minimises any possible tungsten occlusions. The current slowly attains its set maximum level, while the Smart Stop for the termination of the welding process provides automatic slopedown, during which the torch is raised without switching off the arc.

Electrode welding / MMA

Hot start ignition help for electrodes that are difficult to weld prevents sticking of the stable electrode by means of the brief raising of the start current level. This anti-stick function hinders electrode adherence and burn out. Dynamic current readjustment automatically raises the set current value when the arc becomes shorter and as a consequence, the arc remains constant.
